Sebele residents to benefit
16 Feb 2017
Parliament was told that Sebele ward residents are yet to benefit from the Poverty Eradication Programme. Answering a question from Member of Parliament for Gaborone North, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa on Wednesday, the Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe said two out of 10 applicants registered on July 28, last year had been assessed and requested to submit their affidavits to facilitate completion of the assessment process. Mr Kwerepe said the remaining eight could not be assessed despite four visits at their places by officials. “Two applicants are waiting funding pending submission of affidavits. These two that have already been assessed will be assisted before the end of this financial year, upon submission of their affidavits to the office,” he said. Gaborone North legislator had asked the minister to state the number of Sebele ward residents who have benefitted from the Poverty Eradication Programme. Mr Nkaigwa also wanted to know that if there was none, why they were being denied access, how many had been assessed and are currently on the waiting list, how long they had been on the waiting list, and how and when they would be assisted.
