Suping thrives in male dominated business

12 Feb 2017

A Maun business woman who owns and drives taxis has hailed the decision by government to issue provisional driving permits (Prdps) without one having to go through vigorous test as a wise one.
Speaking in an interview, Ms Kabo Suping said the move had helped many people to graduate from poverty.
The mother of four said since she started her taxi business last year, her achievements were uncountable. For instance, she said she had been able to help her husband who is a driver at council financially.
Ms Suping said she was also able to complete her houses for extra income. In addition, she was able to pay school fees for her children and those of her late sisters.
When asked about her secret to success, she said dedication and good customer care were key. She said to some people it might be a challenge to enter a male dominated business as a woman but to her it was a stepping stone to success.
She added that keeping one’s working place clean was very vital in any business setup, which in this regard meant keeping her vehicle and herself presentable at all times thereby giving her a fair advantage over others. She however said business had its own ups and downs; therefore one should consider that success does not come instantly. She said patience was a great asset in business since there were times when business was slow.
When asked about where she sees herself in the next five years Ms Suping was quick to point out that she wants to tap into other means of transportation businesses. She said she was already waiting for her passenger transport permit for Kasane to operate a minibus on the Maun-Kasane route via Nata.
She said she would like to follow the steps of prominent businesses like Mr Seabelo Tlhaselo and others who have made it in this industry. ENDS
