Walking Cheaper Means of Exercise

08 Feb 2017

Exercise is an important activity that one needs to embark on as it helps in keeping healthy. While some make way to gym facilities to exercise at a fee, others have found a cheaper form of keeping fit by walking.

One such person is Gorata Ntwaetsile who said she has found solace in keeping fit by walking.

The 25-year old woman said in an interview that she lives in Unit 3 and she usually takes her walks in the evening after work. “I have friends in Unit 6 so I would walk from my home down to their location,” she said. Ms

Ntwaetsile said even though it is short distance, she believes it is making all the difference in her health.

“Last year around October I weighed 65 kg and today I am on 57kg,” she said. Ms Ntwaetsile said she is not on any diet and believes the weight she managed to lose was due to the walks she takes almost every day.

Having realised the effectiveness of walking, Ms Ntwaetsile said she vows to continue with that kind of exercise as it costs her nothing.

Another individual who echoed the same sentiments about walking is Ms Mpho Kentse, a 38-year old woman who said she walks to and from her work place every day.  “I believe that is why I am not overweight,” she said.

For Ms Kentse, walking also adds value to her social life as she said she is usually in the company of others while walking.

She has encouraged other people who cannot afford to pay for gym facilities to engage themselves in walking as this could help with keeping them fit adding that it also helps with prevention of heart related diseases. ENDS
