The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security has extended ploughing/planting activities for 2016/17 cropping season.

A press release from the ministry informs the farming community, tractor owners and input suppliers that due to continuous rainfall, which resulted in conditions not supportive of agricultural activities, the ploughing planting activities have been extended.

The release states that the extension for south of Dibete would be up to February 10, while north of Dibete would be up to February 25.

The release further advises farmers and tractor owners that anybody engaging in ploughing or planting after the said dates will not benefit from the ISPAAD programme.

It also encourages farmers to liaise with their frontline extension workers for field measurements, noting that those whose fields have been measured, are urged to collect payments from their respective agriculture offices. ENDS
