Landboard awards performers

07 Feb 2017

Ngwato land board chairperson, Mr David Modisagape has commended employees for their performance and dedication to work.

Speaking at the land board awards ceremony held at Lady Khama Hall recently, Mr Modisagape encouraged employees to continue showing dedication in their work, having done well in registering plots since LAPCAS started.

He attributed the board’s good performance to support of the tribal administration, district commissioner’s office as well as the Central District Council.

He said the four arms worked as a team in improving service delivery and poverty eradication.

However, he said the land board was faced with challenges such as poor record keeping and financial constraints.

Mr Modisagape said squatting was also a problem. He also encoraged farmers to apply for land through the land board. He noted that the land board was owed over P16 million in leases, saying that deterred the land board from undertaking projects.

Palapye Land Tribunal president, Ms Motlhalefi Baipaakanye, said land boards had an obligation to create a corrupt free working environment.

Ms Baipaakanye thus encouraged employees to strive to help government achieve its goals of employment creation, poverty eradication, increase government funding, among others.

That, she said was because customers had a misconception that land boards were corrupt because officers failed to give feedback adding, “feedback is important whether negative or positive.” ENDS
