Kasane dental clinic re-opens
06 Feb 2017
Kasane Primary Hospital’s dental clinic has re-opened following a shutdown of about six months due to termite infestation and damage to ceilings.
The re-opening of the clinic last week, is a relief to patients who had to travel to Francistown or visit private facilities for dental services.
The maintenance of the entire building was done as a matter of urgency after the hospital wing was declared unsafe for both patients and employees.
The District Health Management Team (DHMT) head, Dr John Makuka said in an interview that maintenance was completed by the first week of February this year, and that all the services were now running normally.
Dr Makuka said the renovation was a blessing as it came with one more dental chair and another operating room to make two each unlike before where they had one operating room and one chair.
He said the services could not be moved to any other place to operate temporarily from, considering the costs associated with the setting up of a dental facility such as the installation of drainage and suction pumps.
“More maintenance work still needs to be done because some of the works were just temporary measures.
We hope assistance will come soon so that the facility is fully up and running,” he said
He called on members of the public who may need any kind of dental service from Kasane Primary Hospital to visit the facility. ENDS
