It was joy and happiness for Rasesa residents who had an opportunity to interact with President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama during his walk about on Sunday February 5.
The walk about initiative by the President Khama accorded him an opportunity to meet and greet Batswana across the country to get first-hand information on their challenges.
The visit would forever be memorable for the residents including Ms Enid Marks, who shared how his late husband started the Botswana Democratic Party with the founding president, Sir Seretse Khama.
She said they were also the first Batswana who contributed to the development of Rasesa during the time while it was still regarded as ploughing fields.
Ms Kgoreletso Radisigo made use of the visit by asking President Lt Gen. Dr Khama to assist her get a plot certificate.
She told the President that she lost her certificate, but despite having made two police affidavits as required by the land board, she had not been assisted.
The President’s visit took by surprise 85-year-old Ms Kabuisa Matome who was also overcome with joy.
She pleaded with the President to help complete her house to which he said he would help refurbish the two roomed house. President Khama also gave Ms Matome food hamper and a blanket.
He also visited a tuck shop where he bought sweets and snacks for some children in the village.
The President was accompanied by the Minister of Basic Education Dr Unity Dow, nominated councillor Tshwarelo Motsumi and Rasesa BDP bye election candidate Mr Daniel Molokwe. ENDS
