Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, says it is true that the agro met station office in Kang is dilapidated.

Responding to a question at the Ntlo ya Dikgosi meeting recently, Ms Tshireletso explained that the station was earmarked for demolition because there was no plan to renovate it.

She said the department installed an automatic raingauge in August 2016 to replace the manual rainfall recording that also measured temperatures and humidity.

She further told Ntlo ya Dikgosi that there would be no need to buy office furniture since the staff would be transferred and the automatic raingauge would replace the manual work previously done by staff.

Ms Tshireletso was responding to questions on behalf of Minister of Environment, Natural Resources, Conservation and Tourism.

Kgosi Moeti Monyamane of Kgalagadi North had asked the minister if they were aware that the Agro Met station office for the department of Metereological Services in Kang was dilapidated.

He also wanted to know when the station would be renovated and if the office was ever supplied with office furniture and if not, when would the minister do so. BOPA
