Improper drainage leads to office flooding
05 Feb 2017
Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse, has told Ntlo ya Dikgosi that Mogoditshane veterinary offices were flooded following heavy rains due to lack of proper drainage.
Responding to a question in Ntlo ya Dikgosi recently, Mr Autlwetse said the problem started after dualisation of the Molepolole/Gaborone road.
However, he said the matter was presented to the company that constructed the road in 2012 and the company had promised to do some structural works that would assist with drainage.
Furthermore, he acknowledged that the problem hampered service delivery because staff vacated the office when flooding occured.
To address the situation, he said, a barrier would be constructed around the office to prevent flow of water into the office yard and concrete had been procured and works commenced this month.
Kgosi Nametso Kopelo of Molepolole had wanted to know if the minister was aware that veterinary offices in Mogoditshane get flooded and inaccessible when it rained due to lack of proper drainage and when would the situation be addressed. BOPA
