Southern District Council ready to deliver
05 Feb 2017
Southern District Council (SDC) chairperson Mr Alec Seametso says the district is prepared to do more with fewer resources.
He said during an interview this week that SDC was ready to make do with any amount the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development will issue the authority for financial year 2017/18.
“We will not let budget constraints hinder us from fulfilling our mandate,” he said.
Mr Seametso explained that already the authority has plans in place to augment what they will be given.
He said this will include taking advantage of finance derived from votes such as auction, matimela and collection of solid waste.
The chairperson further noted that they would get into agreements with banks to invest funds and in turn earn interest.
Mr Seametso said they had agreed to rent out equipment such as excavators, graders, water bowsers to the public and to engage more investors through Public Private Partnerships. BOPA
