The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, has promised members of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that government will hasten to address the issue of sitting allowance for dikgosi while attending full council meetings.

Reacting to dikgosi's plea at the ongoing Ntlo ya Dikgosi session, Ms Tshireletso said after carefully listening to the debate emanating from a question regarding payment of sitting allowance for dikgosi when attending such meetings, she consulted with Minister Slumber Tsogwane and reached a conclusion that the minister would present a matter to cabinet for consideration.  

She said a decision by cabinet on the matter will be duly communicated to the House once it becomes available. 

Ms Tshireletso said she was optimistic that the response would be available in the next session.  

Meanwhile, Minister of Basic Education, Dr Unity Dow, informed Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that her ministry intended to start a special education class for intellectually challenged learners at Good Hope Primary School and thus commenced consultations with other key stakeholders including parents and sub-district council.

Responding to a question from Kgosi Botiki Motshegare of Barolong this week, Dr Dow said they expected the first phase to commence in May this year, noting that a classroom is available at the school. 

In addition she said potential learners/pupils have been assessed (approximately 20) and the ministry will post a well-trained and experienced teacher there.

In the meantime, the assistant minister of local government and rural development Ms Tshireletso has informed Ntlo Ya Dikgosi through a question asked by Kgosi Nametso Kopelo of Molepolole Region that cabling for internet connection at Mogoditshane Kgotla was done in December 2016. 

She said department of tribal administration has tendered an application for routers which facilitates internet connectivity, with the department of information technology in the ministry of transport and communications and is awaiting supply of the same. BOPA
