Police districts not aligned to administrative districts
01 Feb 2017
Policing districts within the Botswana Police Service are not aligned to administrative districts, the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi, has said.
Responding to a Ntlo ya Dikgosi question from Kgosi Mosadi of Balete, Mr Kgathi said “policing areas are determined by proximity to a given policing district.”
In this context, he said Otse was relatively closer to Lobatse, hence being cost effective to police from Lobatse than Ramotswa.
Kgosi Mosadi had asked the minister to explain why Otse in Gamalete; South East District, was serviced by Lobatse police station instead of Ramotswa police station as was the case with all other villages in the same territory and constituency to make leadership efforts on policing and crime prevention activities much easier and concerted.
