Lead by example - Pastors told
01 Feb 2017
Reverend Petros Ntonda of Apostolic Faith Church has challenged pastors to lead by example.
Speaking at a ceremony to ordain pastor Petros Ramoitee in Gakgatla, Rev. Ntonda, who is also the country overseer for the church in Botswana, said a pastor should be someone who welcomed people from all spheres of life.
He also said a pastor should be able to love and embrace all regardless of religion or faith.
Giving counsel to the newly ordained pastor, Rev Ntonda told him that if God anointed someone, much was expected from him. He added that the work of the minister was not only to preach but to make sure people’s lives were saved.
Further, he said people would only do good when they mirrored the ministering pastor.
The newly ordained pastor was also encouraged to be strong and courageoud by different speakers who took to the podium, including visiting pastors from different churches.
Speakers urged pastor Ramoitee to be the shepherd of the flock and teach sound gospel because that was what God expected from him.
Rev. Ntonda had nevertheless told congregants that the ceremony was held not only to confirm pastor Ramoitee and dress him with the pastoral gown but to also officially introduce him to the village leadership as well as other local churches so that he could join hands with them to serve Gakgatla community.
However, Rev. Ntonda explained that in June last year, pastor Ramoitee was ordained at their annual church conference together with other pastors from other villages, hence the event to welcome the pastor in the village and celebrate his new role with all.
Giving a vote of thanks, pastor Ramoitee thanked congregants and the church leadership for their support.
He however pleaded with congregants to hold fast unto the Lord and receive eternal salvation. BOPA
