Mabeo calls for employees unity

01 Feb 2017

The Minister of Employment, Labour, Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo, has encouraged Madirelo Training and Testing Centre employees to work together to take the ministry to greater heights.

Speaking in a meet and greet meeting at MTTC on Tuesday, Mr Mabeo said for the country to move forward, its workforce should unite and work together to produce good results.

“With team work, you will be able to harness different skills from one another,” Mr Mabeo said.

He encouraged them to be productive, adding that the centre’s leadership should consider upgrading and developing its human resource.

“We need not to forget that we are all under a mandate, sent by Batswana, we should from time to time reflect on whether we are on track so that those who shall come after us see our results,” Mr Mabeo said.

The minister said, as a newly formed ministry  employees should ensure a good and firm foundation was laid.

“We are a new ministry that is still on its launching pad, this is an advantage to us as we are different from somebody who finds the structure already there,” he said.

Mr Mabeo encouraged employees to leave behind a great legacy as forerunners who came before them left behind some great trails.

“We know there are always some challenges in the work environment, arrive with a right spirit and a great strength for work, some conflicts are not necessary in the workplace, make the work environment workable,” he said.

Mabeo furthermore said respect for leadership is vital as it makes the workplace run smooth.

For her part permanent secretary in the ministry of Employment, Labour, Productivity and Skills Development, Ms Pearl Ramokoka said as time goes on the idea is for MTTC and Construction Industry Trust Fund (CITF) to merge and be one body.

“Some of what MTTC is doing, brigades and CITF are also doing, this has caused concern, now we are streamlining functions and responsibilities of CITF against what could be done by MTTC, because we want everyone to specialize in their particular area,” she said. BOPA
