Ntlhaile commends stakeholders
31 Jan 2017
Member of Parliament for Jwaneng/Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile has commended education stakeholders for the improved Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) results.
Addressing a press conference in Jwaneng recently, Mr Ntlhaile said the 2016 results showed that the stakeholders’ efforts were bearing fruit.
He said as the area MP, he had previously met with the school communities including non-teaching staff in his constituency to appreciate the challenges and encourage them to soldier on for better results.
Mr Ntlhaile said despite the challenges, most schools managed to improve.
However, he noted that there was still room for improvement.
Furthermore, he said through his questions in Parliament, he had made an effort to urge the government to pay attention to critical areas that affected the education sector.
He said if addressed, such issues would motivate teachers and others involved in education to deliver better results.
On other issues, Mr Ntlhaile said unemployment continued to be one of the challenges facing this country, especially among the youth.
He said even the few that managed to get assistance through government programmes had a challenge of shortage of operational space.
“There are no factory shells and some of them end up crowding in a small space. Even potential investors cannot bring their businesses to Jwaneng due to lack of factory shells warehouses,” he said.
He also noted that even though most villages in his constituency had access to water, Mahotshwane residents were still getting water through a bowser.
He said this provision was not enough as the village needed more water that it was getting.
He said this hindered the residents from making use of available government programmes.
He, however noted that the relevant stakeholders were still consulting on the issue so that it could be addressed.
On land issues, the MP noted that some villages in the Jwaneng/Mabutsane constituency could not expand due to limited residential and grazing areas.
He said he had engaged the lands ministry and other stakeholders to see how best this issue could be addressed. ENDS
