Residents of Mokgomane in the Good Hope Sub-district are moving with speed to ensure successful installation of Kgosi Selerio Kgopo.

They expressed happiness Saturday in a kgotla meeting to apprise them about impending activity slated for May 20.

The installation of Kgosi Selerio would follow the demise of Kgosi Mokgabisi Selerio who passed on in April last year.

Until his passing on, the late kgosi was holding fort for Kgosi Selerio.

To give the day the status befitting the event of its magnitude, residents reached a consensus to form subcommittees at ward level to start the ball rolling towards the big day.

A steering committee comprising six people was also selected to spearhead preparations.

One of the residents, Mr Mabe Baruakgomo of Mabe ward called on residents especially the youth to come forth and be punctual during meetings to contribute ideas towards the event.

Ms Gaolebale Seobamo challenged fellow residents especially those that will make it into ward committees to show commitment in the various tasks that they would undertake.

She also suggested that only selfless, hardworking individuals be included in those committees.

Meanwhile, residents were also read correspondence from deputy district commissioner’s office that urged village leadership and committees to be on high alert for natural disaster following heavy rains experienced throughout the district.

“For outstations, I am requesting that the Village Extension Team members be on high alert and promptly notify my office while social workers should promptly assess vulnerable homes and places of possible victims of disaster,” stated savingram signed by Ms Goitseone Nkwe-Tabane.

The savingram further called on all primary and secondary school heads to avail classrooms to be used as temporary evaluation centres should need arise.BOPA
