Botswana Public Service Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS) chairperson, Ms Shenaaz El-Halabi, says there was an increase of 69 per cent in the amount recovered from dispensing doctors between the last two financial years.
Giving a keynote address at BPOMAS annual general meeting in Gaborone recently, Ms El-Halabi said there was an improvement in performance of the scheme and group as a whole.
“During the 2015/16 financial year, we started implementing the turnaround strategy that was developed in December 2014. Initiatives such as restructuring of the administration fees, wellness and disease management and managed care for radiology and pathology benefits will be put in place by the end of the current financial year,” she said.
Ms El-Halabi further said BPOMAS strategy plan 2016-2021 was almost complete.
It included an assessment of the BPOMAS operating model.
She noted that the BPOMAS administration contract would be put out for tender before the end of June 2017 while tender for external audit 2017/2018 would be put out before end of financial year. BOPA
