Tennis mourns Matshediso

Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) is mourning the passing of one of their members and former Tennis player, Matshediso Moses. 

According to a press release from the association, Moses, who died at the age of 37, was serving as the assistant junior nation team coach and secretary general of her club, Smash Maniacs.

As a player, Moses is described as an exceptional player, who played at the highest level, winning a handful of medals and other accolades.

Her many accolades as a player include a gold medal in 2002 Tri-Nations competitions that were held in Botswana. She also became women’s club champion consecutively for the year 2012 and 2013.

The release says Moses constantly made the national team and has represented the country at different levels in the international stages.

As a coach, Moses recently won her team a silver medal in the 2014 South African Open held in Bloemfontein and another silver and a bronze medals at the Rustenburg Open the same year.

Speaking in an interview with BOPA, BTTA’s Tswelelo Kololo described Moses, who died on January 21 in Gaborone, as an amazing hard worker, who remained active in sports despite a long illness. She will be laid to rest on Saturday at Phomolong Memorial Park, Phakalane. BOPA
