Competition Authority Gambling formalise relations

Competition Authority and the Gambling Authority on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Speaking during a press briefing in Gaborone, Gambling Authority chief executive officer Mr Thuli Johnson said the purpose of the MOU is for both authorities to join efforts in order to make sure that the enterprises regulated under the Gambling Act are compliant with both the gambling and competition laws.
“The MOU will offer us an opportunity to collaborate on investigations, research and analysis of cases that one party may be engaged in,” Mr Johnson said.
Mr Johnson went on to say the MOU would provide the two organizations with useful information on an investigation when requested by the other party or proactively by any party without any request being made.
For her part, Acting chief executive officer at Competition Authority, Ms Tebelelo Pule said through the MOU, the two agree to cooperate and share relevant information on matters of common interest as well as conduct joint training sessions for officers dealing directly with matters related to this MOU.
“Anti-competitive behaviors are going to arise and I believe the signing of this memorandum will help us deal appropriately with them,” she said.
Ms Pule further said they are much delighted as the MOU will help the two authorities get the right information from sources as well as share available resources BOPA
