Kenya Airways spreads wings
10 Jun 2013
Kenya Airways has spread wings to other cities in the region, the company’s country manager, Ms Juliet Zintambila has said.
Ms Zintambila said Kenya Airways, which handled over three million customers per annum, would soon be touching ground at Livingstone in Zambia, Blantyre in Malawi and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
At the launch of the new destinations in Gaborone, May 7, she said Kenya Airways was cognizant of the fact that transport was an important factor in the development of a country as it allowed for movement of goods and services.
As such, the introduction of the new routes increased the number of destinations to 60 throughout the world. According to Ms Zintambila, the airline also introduced night flights between Nairobi and Gaborone to meet the rising demand for travel between the two cities.
Furthermore, she said development would also allow customers to take advantage of the airlines’ growing route network via its hub at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. She said the expansion was in line with the company’s objective of contributing to sustainable development, not only in Kenya, but also the rest of the African continent.
Ms Zintambila said the new routes were among those that would be served by the new E190 jets as the Embraer had proven to be a fantastic aircraft for servicing the regional routes and fitted well with their African ambitions. ENDS
