Ministry revises animal movement restrictions

The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security has revised restrictions on movement that was imposed on live cloven hoofed animals and their products following the sighting of buffaloes in the Tutume extension area.

A press release from the ministry explains that movement of live cloven hoofed animals into zones 6a and 3c is allowed under a veterinary permit and their movement out of these zones to the rest of the country is allowed with a permit.

It also says movement of these animals and their fresh products within these zones is allowed without a permit and their movement to registered feedlots and slaughter abattoirs is allowed with permit.

Further, it says movement of fresh products derived from these animals is also allowed out of these zones without a permit. BOPA
