No more extension for land registration
17 Jan 2017
The Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services Mr Prince Maele has urged land owners to take advantage of the extended land registration period as it is the last one affording them a chance to register plots.
Addressing kgotla meetings in Lerala/Maunatlala constituency recently, Mr Maele said the extension which ends on January 31 was meant to afford all a chance to register given the large number of those who wanted to register their plots during the first week of January.
He revealed the importance of land registration for all plots allocated by land boards saying it was intended to give the land board information about the available plots in the country.
LAPCAS programme was implemented in 2012 requiring every land owner to register their plots to this he said land owners were slow to do so forcing the ministry to extend the dates time and again to allow all to participate.
He explained that after registration, new certificates with security features will be given to land owners.
Mr Maele said should one be unable to go and register in person, an individual could be sent on their behalf and should bring the plot owner’s certificate and their copy of Omang.
He also said that if the owner of the plot is deceased the death certificate and plot certificate should be brought.
On other issues Mr Maele encouraged farmers to take advantage of the rains and start ploughing their fields.
He also appealed to residents to be cautious during the rainy season to avoid accidents that might happen like drowning and diseases which are common during rainy seasons. BOPA
