Vote wisely-Masisi
12 Jan 2017
The Vice President who is also chairperson of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has urged residents of Tsabong to vote for Mr Edward Coetzee in the upcoming by-election of Tsabong North slated for Januray 21.
He said these words in a rally where he and other democrats from around the country were canvassing support for the youthful Coetzee who will be representing the ruling party.
The seat fell vacant after the demise of Mr Mmuso Kgannyeng who had wrestled the ward from the opposition party Umbrella for Democratic Change in the last general elections.
The Vice President pointed out that by voting for Mr Coetzee the constituents will be making a wise move as that will ensure continuity because the late councillor was also from the ruling party.
He said the ruling party boasts of good initiatives which have seen the country eradicate abject poverty amongst its people including a good health system such as PMTCT and other lifesaving drugs which are provided for free.
Mr Masisi said the ruling party has done great things with time that are very evident including getting the country out of the low income status to middle income all through good governance and consultation processes.
Furthermore, he encouraged those who attended the rally to go on a recruitment drive, targeting those who are still undecided by showing them the good deeds that their party has done and is continuing to do for all Batswana despite political
affiliation, adding that they should be in their best behavior so as not to tarnish the good name of their party.
For his part, Mr Coetzee said he is better placed to represent the ward because he has been working closely with the former councillor and as such he will easily follow up on the motions and issues he raised .ENDS
