Residents behavior worrisome

10 Jan 2017

Kgosi Jobson Difemo of Lotlhakane West has expressed concern over alcohol abuse and stock theft by residents of the village.

Speaking during an interview with BOPA recently, he said he was not amused by the behavior of some residents especially the youth.

He said youth spend most of their time drinking alcohol which fuels their obdurate behavior, noting something has to be done to divert them from such cause.

Kgosi Difemo said he is irked by the youth’s frequent visits to bars even at awkward hours thus substituting their time of attending kgotla meetings.

He also took a swipe at those residents who mix alcohol with medication saying such behavior was uncalled for.

He said instead of looking for permanent employment, they resorted to piece jobs so that they can have ample time to drink alcohol.

Kgosi Difemo encouraged the youth to make use of availed government programmes to better their lives.

On issues of stock theft, he said perpetrators usually target small stock financed under Youth Development Fund.

Kgosi Difemo therefore called for a recreational centre or park in the village to remove the youth from causes that are detrimental to their lives and those of other people.

He argued that a recreational centre or park will assist in numerous ways such as job creation, income generation through selling food and paying for tickets to watch tournaments, among others. ENDS
