Team work earns Lentsweletau awards
22 Dec 2016
Lentsweletau Sub-land board has received two awards for being the Best Overall Sub-land board and Best Sub-land board in land registration.
Receiving the awards at the Kweneng Land Board (KLB) chairperson’s ball in Kumakwane recently, Lentsweletau Sub-land board chairperson, Mr Wonder Keabilwe expressed gratitude for their achievements and attributed it to team work among the staff.
“Our team is made up of very committed people who are willing to perform even after official hours. We have made hard work our culture at our organisation,” he said.
Even though they started land registration only this year, Mr Keabilwe stated that they worked tirelessly to raise awareness in their area of jurisdiction concerning land registration and worked very closely with the leaders of each village to help them spread the message out to the community.
“All the villages that we went to, people were ready and prepared to register their land and when it all began, people came in large numbers. We even did house to house consultations to verify that everyone has registered their plots,” he said.
He encouraged other sub-land boards to build their teams, emphasising that a cooperative team produced great results.
For his part, the chairperson of KLB, Mr Moemedi Babitseng applauded Lentsweletau sub land board for their utmost performance saying it indicated commitment to their work.
“I am very impressed with them and they have actually set high standards for themselves and the rest of the sub land boards in the region. We know next year, others will want to be recognised for their hard work and that is what we really want to see,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Babitseng stated that the KLB has had its own share of difficulty for the past year amongst them being the ever rising demand of serviced land, squatting problem and low number of plots adjudicated.
He stated that currently, the plots adjudicated stand at 27.7 per cent and requested people to go and register their plots.
”We encourage people to go and register in large numbers. It is very important for people to understand the need to register their plots,” he said.
He stated that land registration brings with it a lot of improvements in the villages, adding that registered plots make locations identification easy.
He also noted that the plot owners would be given land certificates that they could use when seeking loans at the banks.
“This project also helps us to know how many plots an individual has in the country,” he said.
For his part, the guest speaker Kgosi Kgari Sechele 111 applauded the KLB for recognising their employees performance and acknowledging their contribution to the board’s mission and vision.
“In today’s work place, performance improvement and the role of performance management is an increasingly popular topic. Business pressures are ever increasing and organisations are now required to become even more effective and efficient in order to remain competitive to meet the ever increasing demands of their customers,” he said.
He stated that the first step to delivering a customer’s promise was to know the customers and their needs.
Kgosi Kgari Sechele stated that managing performance and change was a continuous process that reflects good management practices of setting direction, monitoring and measuring performance and taking action accordingly.
“By doing this, I can assure you that the link between your strategy and the day to day actions will be strengthened,” he said. ENDS
