Employees under the Molepolole Administration Authority/Lentsweletau(MAA/Lentsweletau) have been urged to continue serving the public with diligence.
Speaking during Quality Management System (QMS) accreditation ceremony, which was signaled by the hoisting of the QMS flag and the staff award ceremony in Lentsweletau recently, Kweneng District Council (KDC) secretary Mr Goleba Kgari commended the employees for the good work they did.
He said it was through hard work of all MAA/Lentsweletau staff and council structures that they managed to obtain Botswana Beruau of Standards (BOBS) certificate on quality management system.
He said government was facing great challenges, therefore it was upon the employees to develop and maintain citizen confidence in the institutions.
In this respect, he said, local government had an important role to play in creating sustainable local communities in which quality, cost effectiveness and consistent public service were core as this will help to promote sustainable economic prosperity and social justice at the local level.
The council secretary indicated that the Kweneng District Council adopted QMS ISO 9001:2008, from 2012 in order to address the problems of poor service delivery, customer complaints poor organisational image and inconsistency in the delivery of services.
He said QMS was key towards sustainable organisational performance improvement therefore the system would enable KDC to continue delivering quality services which meets customer expectations and applicable regulatory requirements.
He urged employees to guarantee minimum level of reliability on the processes that were necessary to provide all the services needed by its citizens in a consistent and reliable manner.
Mr Kgari therefore said for the proper implementation of the QMS initiative, the council need to continuously reward its employees.
“The employee recognition awards will enable KDC to celebrate staff success, recognise outstanding contributions, support and encourage quality improvements and learning in support of corporate objectives”, he added. ENDS
