It takes a good and generous heart for somebody to give to the needy, according to the Senior Private Secretary to the President, Brigadier George Tlhalerwa.

He was speaking during a ceremony to hand over the 681^st house donated by PPDAB recently.

“It takes a good, kind and generous heart for somebody to take out money from their pockets, contribute their time and resources in order to give to the needy. I know there are those among the PPDAB staff who do not have a place of their own, but because of their kindness and good heart, they found it fit to contribute towards building this family a house, I just want to thank you,” Brigadier Tlhalerwa said.

He said 681 houses are equivalent to a whole village as in Botswana 350 households are recognised as a village and if Batswana manage to build 600 houses it means they have built a village.

He also encouraged the beneficiary to take good care of the house.

He further said 36 houses were still under construction, 22 already finished waiting to be handed over to the beneficiaries.

The house was built by PPADB to the tune of P160 000 and was b fully furnished with a bed set, a three piece lounge suite, a television and a fitted kitchen and wall wardrobe.

PPDAB chief, Ms Bridget John said as part of their corporate social responsibility, the employees of PPADB raised and contributed P45 000 from their own pockets, but the money was not enough.

“In a dream to build a dignified home we went further into our social responsibility committee to top up the money raised, all designs and electricity were done by PPADB workers, so I just want to take this time to thank you for your contributions,” she said.

She said now the family has a place to seek refuge in during times of rain, winds and other weather conditions.

The beneficiary, a 55 year old Mr Paniki Rakgomo could not hold his excitement as he thanked PPADB for putting a roof on top of his head.

“I am so happy for the house given to me by PPADB, where would I have acquired such a beautiful house, may they be blessed wherever they go, I will also pray for them at church,” he said. ENDS
