Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Chinese Medical Team in collaboration with Member of Parliament for Francistown East, Mr Buti Billy have donated Christmas food hampers to the elderly people.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony held at Coloured Park last week, director of Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Francistown, Mr Chen Jianping said Chinese people had a glorious tradition of honouring their parents and the elderly, caring for children and helping people in need.

Mr Jianping said the Chinese Chamber of Commerce raised P22 000 and they purchased 100 food hampers to distribute to 100 people. He hoped that their excellence tradition shall take roots, grow green, bring forth flowers and bear fruits in Francistown.

Furthermore, he said all along they made efforts to help the less privileged in Francistown and plough back into the community they serve.

“We shall strive to create more employment and generate revenue for the government. We are committed to show love and care for the less privileged,” he said.

He noted that this year, they had been carrying out charity activities, adding that in June this year, they handed out blankets to the needy people in Francistown West and in August they sponsored BOT50 celebration activity in Donga.

He also said they had promised to contribute to Francistown mayor’s fund, noting that they would ensure that their passion of love for the needy never stops.

For his part, Mr Billy thanked the Chinese for joining hands with him to make the event a success by showing love to the needy people and urged them to continue with their great relationship.

Mr Billy encouraged residents of Francistown East to keep an eye on their young ones during Christmas celebrations and not allow them to play on the streets unattended. ENDS
