Black Forest close on a high
18 Dec 2016
Black Forest closed for the festive break having preserved their status of being unbeaten in their maiden appearance in the elite league after holding Miscellaneous to a stalemate at the Molepolole Sports Complex on Saturday (December 17).
In a game that could have gone either way, both teams appeared to have come prepared and with a purpose; while Magoleng were looking to preserve their unbeaten run, Miscellaneous appeared to be determined to be the first team to collect maximum points against the Mankgodi outfit.
However, the game saw a few hair-rising incidents and should it not have been for goalkeepers of both teams who were brilliant, any team could have collected maximum points
This was noted by Miscellaneous coach, Russia Chaba during the post-match interview.
“Both teams appeared to have come to the game prepared and the game was 50-50 and any team could have taken it.
Congratulations to Black Forest for their good run in the league despite their status of being the new comers.
It is not often that your see new boys punching so confidently,” he said.
As for his team, Chaba said he was still trying to mould his first team.
“I am still trying to mix our young players with the experienced ones to come up with a winning team.
We cannot cry for players that we have lost because that is tantamount to crying over spilt milk. We have to carry forward,” he said.
Despite Chaba’s cry over lost players, Miscellaneous lost only one notable players in former national team striker, Emmanuel Thakadu to BR Highlanders while the bulk of the team that did well last season is still retained.
For his part, Magoleng coach, Rapelang ‘Raizer’ Tsatsilebe stated that contrary to what people believed, they were not a big team and were still learning the ropes in the league.
He said because of their good run in the league, teams normally prepare thoroughly for them than they would for other teams.
The former Gaborone United great said that this is bad for them as it means they will be playing tough games each and every weekend.
He however, said going into the break assured of a top five spot is good for their record.
Magoleng will now go into the break with the hope that they would not lose any of their players such as deadly striker, Lynoth Chikuhwa to big money spenders.
The January transfer window is renowned for destabilising teams, especially small ones that do not have the financial powers to keep the players that have distinguished themselves in games before the festive break. ENDS
