15 Dec 2016

The acting Deputy Permanent Secretary to the President, Ms Kebonye Moepeng has urged public servants to work hard to provide excellent customer service and accordingly drive government priorities.

Ms Moepeng said this on December14 when officially closing the Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) Pitso on human capital management pitso.

Ms Moepeng commended  DPSM director, Ms Ruth Maphorisa and her staff for organising the two days deliberations on DPSM Strategic Plan for the next five years (2017-2022).

The pitso, she said, was an important feedback meeting which provided a platform to deliberate on HR matters and other issues of concern with one view of coming up with solutions to all HR problems encountered.

“I believe as DPSM, we have listened and we will, going forward, capitalise on our gaps and see them as broad opportunities, so that we can come up with an implementable quality strategy,” she said.

With the director of Public Service Management’s guidance and direction, Ms Moepeng expressed hope that all HR problems encountered in the public service could be solved.

She also applauded stakeholders who attended the forum for having prioritised it, amongst their busy schedules, saying “we highly value your thoughts as we believe your success is our success.”

She highlighted that, when officiating at the pitso on Tuesday, Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe emphasised the need for boldness and decisiveness in the implementation of policies.

Mr Kwerepe, Ms Moepeng said, also stressed that “the public service must consistently introspect and design new ways of configuring, not only the work force, but to seek ways to collaborate with the private sector for improved outcomes.”

She urged public servants to take heed of Assistant Minister’s words, saying “this will make a great difference to the Human Resource (HR) amidst the changing environment.”

The Pitso was meant to; consult with stakeholders and establish the relevance of DPSM in the delivery of NDP 11, discuss human capital role in the achievement of national priorities and objectives, solicit feedback and expectations from stakeholders, establish the role of DPSM in governing structures and provide strategic direction and focus for DPSM and its institutions in discharging this mandate.
