Police on the manhunt for murder suspect

Letlhakeng Police are on a manhunt for suspects who allegedly murdered an elderly security guard at Serinane on December 8 night and got away with a total of P2 500 cash and some small items.
In an interview with BOPA, Officer Commanding for No. 11 District, Senior Superintendent Modise Gabatshwane said the incident was reported to the police on Friday by neighbours who spotted the body of the 55-year-old man lying unconscious near their gate.
“At the moment we have no trail whatsoever of the suspects, and we appeal to members of the public to come forth with any information they may have regarding the incident. Recent rains and cattle trails made tracing the suspects difficult as their trail got lost,” he said.
Senior Supt. Gabatshwane said the suspects broke the rear door of the shop where the security guard was on duty before getting away with the loot.
He said typical with shops in small villages, there was no other security measure such as alarms or CCTV cameras to assist in identifying the suspects.
Meanwhile some residents at the scene of accident on Friday described the deceased as a harmless old man who spoke with a whisper, saying that he might have tried to call for help when the incident occurred, but that because of his poor voice neighbours failed to hear him.
They also said that because of his age and condition, the robbers should just have supressed him and got away with the money rather than murder him. ENDS
