BDF honours employees
12 Dec 2016
The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Honours and Awards Ceremony are not just usual prize giving events, but are meant to recognise the contributions made by individual employees and groups in the organisation.
Speaking during the 9th edition of BDF Honours and Awards Ceremony at SSKB in Mogoditshane on December 8, BDF Ground Force Commander Maj. Gen. Molefi Seikano said the awards were meant to appreciate those who had helped to drive the mandate of the organisation to a desired and satisfactory levels.
He said by recognising such individuals and groups, the move would without fail help to energise them in their respective units and help the organisation to grow and achieve its goals and mandate as well as to ensure the survival of the BDF, which had a duty to perform in the country.
Maj. Gen. Seikano therefore said BDF would continue to reward those who excel and were committed to working hard as this would in the long run significantly help BDF to achieve its values, which should be held high. He further noted that the awards help the organisation to reflect back and take stock of itself.
He further thanked the sponsors of the awards being Vivo Energy, Letshego Holdings and Mascom Wireless for the cordial and prosperous partnership they had entered into, which had blossomed over the years.
However, Maj. Gen. Seikano noted such a partnership would continued to be nourished as it had the potential to benefit both the companies and the BDF, adding that these companies should be applauded for their good cause.
BDF Honours and Awards were started in 2007 and thereafter many institutions within government learnt of the positive results and therefore many departments have since followed suite, thus the BDF prides itself for being the pioneers in this course.
The chairperson of the BDF Honours and Awards Col. Sydney Molomo explained that the wards recognises many qualities among them dedication and excellence in the job. He noted that among others they were meant to acknowledge top achievers and performers.
At least 64 awards were competed for and among them 53 were for individuals, while 11 were for group categories.
The event was spiced by live performance by Latin Supa Stars, Ditiro, Ngwao Letshwao and Boifang. ENDS
