ESP gives Bothakga facelift

12 Dec 2016

The school head for Bothakga Primary School in Lobatse, Ms Bararo Joni has commended government for introducing the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) programme.

Ms Joni said this recently in an interview during the handover of a classroom block and two toilets constructed by Ramogotsi Investment and ABP Investment.

She said the classroom block would be used for children with special learning needs, adding that in the past due to shortage of classrooms they used the library, computer lab and conference room as makeshift classrooms.

Ms Joni said the project came in handy for them in view of the fact that the school was the only one in Lobatse with a special education unit. She shared that they currently have 40 pupils comprising 24 boys and 16 girls aged between five and 18 years.

She also revealed that they have divided the students into different classes depending on their capabilities. After completion of their studies, she said some were usually absorbed into Tirelo Sechaba programme where they were further equipped with life skills.

She also commended members of the business community especially Choppies Super Stores for providing job opportunities for the graduates.

The school head however decried shortage of transport to ferry students from the Lobatse catchment area to the school. She explained most of the students were based in Molapowabojang and Otse.

She also raised concern that the school did not do well academically in the recent past but was optimistic that the study camp they organised before the final examinations would have a positive impact on the results. ENDS
