Greater Francistown District Health Management Team (DHMT) will embark on a house to house preventative health measure campaign in Jamataka this week.
The greater Francistown DHMT assistant director corporate services, Ms Mavilyn Benn said during the World AIDS day commemoration in Jamataka last week that the campaigns were scheduled for December 12-15.
Ms Benn said they were battling with treating communicable diseases and there had not been any improvement on the number of new infections of such diseases.
“We continue to see a rise in number of patients coming to health facilities for treatment.”
She said this prompted them to strategise on measures of prevention than focusing on treatment only.
She therefore highlighted that the ministry of health had decided to focus on prevention and sensitise the public on how to improve in that area.
“We have decided to take up the house to house campaign where we will provide immediate counseling, testing and providing treatment for communicable disease at the comfort of an individual house with the support of family,” she saidShe said she was hopeful that the campaign would help up their efforts of prevention than the main focus on treatment adding that during counseling they would also sensitise people on intense preventative measures than treatment.
