In an effort to contribute meaningfully to the development of football in Botswana, the leading funeral service provider, FSG Company has donated a seven-seater vehicle to the Maun-based Sankoyo Bush Bucks to assist in the running of the club.
The donation was a result of the teams' management efforts to secure a sponsorship and address shortage of resources challenge.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the company's marketing manager, Tshegofatso Monkge said the donation was a respond to the team’s plea.
She said the company had been in existence for 23 years and as part of its corporate social responsibility, it had contributed in various areas including education, health, charity activities and children's welfare.
This time around, she said they found it fit to contribute to the development of the football industry in Botswana.
Monkge expressed hope that the donation would create more opportunities for the company to make a mark.
“As a corporative entity, this vehicle is a demonstration of our trust and hope of our partnership with Sankoyo Bush Bucks and we believe that as it bears our brand and the club’s brand, it will take us to greater heights,” she said.
Monkge urged the team to put the donation to good use and make the company proud.
The FSG operations overseer, Jimmy Kereng said by donating the vehicle, they hoped to establish a relationship with the club “This donation is a trial and if you look after it and utilise it properly, we will consider the possibilities of donating a bigger one,” he added.
Kereng said they wanted to invest in Sankoyo because they believed they could benefit something out of their partnership. He said the team had a bright future and that their doors were open for future endeavours.
He also urged the club to organise itself and consider making a proposal for the company to open them a policy at a discounted price.
For his part, the team’s chairperson, Apollo Moalosi described the event as a historic one and thanked FSG for the noble gesture, noting that it would benefit the club a lot. He said the vehicle would mostly be used by the coach, together with his technical committee.
He said transport had been a challenge as they used their own vehicles to run the club's daily activities, most of which suffered. ENDS
