For the past four years, Kediretswe Primary School has been struggling to find any individual, company or an organisation to adopt it as per government’s Adopt-A-School initiative.
However, one business person in Palapye has decided to partner with the school.
Speaking during a lunch she hosted for the school, Ms Christinah Nwako said she decided to give the school a Christmas lunch to promote a sense of belonging and togetherness.
She said she took the baton of patronage for Kediretswe Primary School from 2013 where she assisted a group of less privileged children with a donation for all expenses paid school trip.
This year, she said she had decided to provide a Christmas lunch for the entire school.
“Life requires one to give back to society because at one stage we as sectors of communities we are in need,” she said.
For his part, school head, Mr Samuel Malete said he was grateful for the continuous support that the school hadv received from time indefinite to time significant.
He thanked Ms Nwako, saying that the lunch was one of the acts of goodwill that the school had received.
In addition, the secretary of the Member of Parliament for Palapye, Ms Bapenyu Lebani commended Ms Nwako for her kindness.
She said Christmas lunch was such a brilliant gesture of kindness because to some children a full meal was a luxury.
Ms Lebani said spending time with children was also part of the 50-Minutes initiative that promoted well-rounded children with healthy wellbeing.
