President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has commended Mmathethe-Molapowabojang MP Dr Alfred Madigele for his recent appointment to Cabinet.

President Khama felt indebted to the people of Metlobo whose vote during last elections ensured Dr Madigele’s eligibility to ascend to a Cabinet position for the benefit of the nation across the political divide.

President Khama donated 30 chairs to the village kgotla, blankets to the elderly and under-privileged as well as Bibles to encourage the nation to lean on God in bad and good times. In turn, President Khama was given a ram, two goats and a turkey.

For his part, the area MP expressed gratitude to the President and his entourage for visiting his constituency, noting that the donation was a testimony that the area was an agricultural production zone.

On the issue of bad state of the roard in the area, the Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Kitso Mokaila promised them a tarred road next year from Mmathethe village via Metlobo to Tsoaneng.

When responding to residents’ concerns with regard to expediting land conflict resolutions, land management, water and sanitation services minister, Mr Prince Maele said such issues were guided by the National Planning Act which required that only town and regional planners should handle such issues, pointing out that such profesionals were fwe in the market, hence the delay.

However, with regard to water reticulation in the village minister Maele said there would be a pipe-line that would pass through Good Hope from Gaborone via Metlobo to Mmabule that was anticipated to ease water shortage.
