Over 1 000 plots await servicing
07 Dec 2016
Deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services Mr Bareng Malatsi says there are currently 1 275 plots awaiting servicing in Ghanzi Township.
He said during the ministry road show held under the theme “land the pride of Botswana” this week that plots cannot be allocated because they are currently not serviced.
Until such services were put in place, Mr Malatsi stated the status quo will remain.
Meanwhile Mr Malatsi decried a high number of undeveloped plots in Ghanzi Township which he said gives an impression to the community that there could be free open spaces.
“I urge you to develop the land you have been allocated,” he said
Mr Malatsi also took time to introduce the new ministry which he stated is mandated to cover land management, water and sanitation services.
He also took time to explain the land policy of 2015, which he said is instrumental to the socio-economic development as it gives guidance to all land operations; something he added contributes to Botswana’s vision of sustainable human settlements.
Mr Malatsi assured attendants that some components of the national land policy are already being implemented. ENDS
