US Embassy warns of tendering scam

In light of recent tendering scams, the US Embassy Gaborone wishes to inform the public of the processes and procedures for solicitation of goods and services.
A press release from the US Embassy says the embassy publishes tender solicitations via its website.
The release says newspaper advertisements are also published to alert vendors of procurement requirements and to direct them to the US Embassy's website for more details.
Further, it says telephone calls may be placed to vendors for lower-value items only, and will be followed by a visit from procurement personnel before finalising any action.
It also says other solicitation methods may not be valid and should be confirmed with the embassy before proceeding. ENDS
