Bayport rebrands itself

Bayport Financial Services has rebranded its logo to the one that reflects the company as a globally recognised brand.

Speaking at the brand’s launch in Gaborone on June 3 , Bayport chief executive officer Mr Father Maphongo said they had to rebrand the logo because its identity was more generic and did not allow institution to communicate in an overt and powerful manner.

Mr Maphongo stated that the logo further presented numerous technical challenges and was impractical to apply in certain instances noting that this often resulted in cost inefficiencies, as well as variations in the visual representation of the brand.

He highlighted that the latter compromised the integrity of the brand identity.

Bayport he said has 60 permanent and 59 of them are citizens.

He explained that the “Y” in the word Bayport was a  graphic representation of a person with arms raised to the sky in elation, saying they want their stakeholders to understand that Bayport was a people centered company , be it customers, investors, employees and partners.

He stated that Bayport’s mission was to provide financial solutions suited to the needs of an inclusive and broad customer base. 

The Executive Director of Bayport South Africa, Mr Grant Kurland said Bayport which has been in Botswana for three years has 12 branches countrywide.

Bayport considers itself to be a promoter of financial wellness and has been engaging with government and financial regulators to ensure compliance and promote sustainable access to credit for Batswana. 

He said the company has advanced approximately P500 million in over 22 000 loans inception to become one of the top three credit providers in Botswana.

Mr Kurland said they have been regulated by Non Banking Financial Institutions Regulation Authority (NBFIRA) and enjoy their role as a responsible financial institution in aiding and stimulating the development of the economy and society.

The Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry Mr Keletso Rakhudu informed Bayport management that Competition Authority would ensure provide a conducive environment for competition, adding that Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) would support all the start-up investments so that they could create employment opportunities.
