Graduates can use skills to create job
05 Dec 2016
The director of engineering and maintenance at Air Botswana, Mr Winston Moloigaswe, has encouraged graduates to use their skills to create employment.
Speaking at a Fly Mission Care Ministries graduation ceremony in Gaborone recently, Mr Moloigaswe said graduates should not wait for government to give them jobs but should come up with creative ways that could help create employment.
“Our economy is ailing and the nation is waiting for you to close the gap for people who cannot afford to be here,” said Mr Moloigaswe. He said the aircraft maintenance engineering industry was tough and one had to abide by the rules at all times.
“You should be disciplined, obedient and learn at all times so that you can be able to do your job diligently,” Mr Moloigaswe said.
This year Fly Mission Care Ministries produced 94 graduates in certificates from two programmes, 13 out of the 94 students were from the aircraft maintenance engineering and 81 graduates were from the early childhood development.
These programmes were sponsored by European Union and The Lady Khama Charitable Trust.
For his part, Mr Dale ter Haar, the chairperson of The Lady Khama Charitable Trust said being a teacher was a calling not a career and the graduates must use their skills to teach children to be the future.
“As this trust was found to continue the legacy of Lady Khama and it helps vulnerable women and children and it has donated to 40 charities and over 3 000 people have benefited and we want to do more.” Mr Ter Haar said.
He said they had donated P750 000 to help Fly Mission Care Ministries to enroll the trainees of early childhood development programme.
He said they focused on child development and safety of the young citizens of this country.
He further said teachers play an exceptional role in the future of this younger generation.
She encouraged the graduates to work diligently to help Botswana to achieve its millennium goals in education of young children. ENDS
