Drago threatens to resign

Sankoyo Bush Bucks head coach, Drago Stanlojovic, has threatened to resign if the club management does not put its house in order.
The Serbian coach revealed that all was not well with the Maun based club noting that the club was facing a lot of challenges, which had negatively affected the teams’ performance despite the good start in the premiership league.
He expressed his frustration in an interview after their loss against Mahalapye United Hot Spurs where his boys were beaten 1-0.
Stanlojovic mentioned some of challenges as too much politics within the management and outstanding allowances for players and him noting that he had a family to look after and he could not cope with the situation.
Other challenges he mentioned included lack of money to transport players for away games, no play ground for training noting that players missed training sessions and camping prior to their games.
He said the problems within the club had affected their preparations hence poor results.
He explained that it is now some months without payments and that alone had pulled down the players’ morale while some are uncontrollable and lack discipline.
Communication and marketing manager, Phemelo Saleshando was not in a position to comment on the issue of the resignation of their coach noting that they had not received any formal communication from him.
He said since they had rumours, a meeting has been arranged with him to discuss the issue further.
On other issues, he admitted that the club was still struggling financially noting that it was true that some players had not been given their allowances.
But he said efforts are being made noting that they had agreed with players that every revenue generated a certain percentage would be reserved for their allowances.
Saleshando also explained that they had taken up the issue of finances with other stakeholders such as Botswana Football Association and Botswana Footballers Union to intervene as they realized that the players might strike at one point and put the football at disrepute.
“This issue is not new to our club as we had long struggled to secure a sponsorship and as management we are equally concerned about the welfare of our players.
But we are happy that the stakeholders said they are working on something to arrest the situation,” he added. ENDS
