South east region introspects

Education is not a right but a necessity to human development, says director of Department of Curriculum Development and Evaluation, Mr Leonard Mutheto.
He said this at the south east sub region education pitso in Ramotswa recently.
Mr Mutheto said education contributed to fostering peace, democracy and economic growth as well as improving health and reducing poverty.
He said a wider and more inclusive notion of partnership was needed, based on principles of broad public accountability, citizen participation, equity and fairness, transparency, good governance and power sharing between stakeholders and sectors.
Mr Mutheto said it was important to have community participation in the development and management of education.
Therefore, he noted that support and active participation of the children’s parents and community through an education and information campaign should be considered.
He added that public participation promoted the pursuance of common agendas given the shared intentions.
Mr Mutheto explained that education mentorship programme was established in 2012 to allow individuals and teams to provide mentorship and coaching in various areas including academic and management to learners, teachers, and school management.
The director of South East Region Mr Mabunga Gadibolae said adopt a school programme had contributed on the improvement of student`s school results, when speaking about Overview of Academic performance in the region.
He said out of ten regions in the country, south east sub region took the first position last year, which consists of 19 primary schools, eight junior secondary schools and three senior secondary schools. ENDS
