Strong connexions are critical to a safe, efficient and effective public transport system.
Speaking in an interview recently, secretary general of the Kanye Taxi Association Mr Thabo Mudongo said the only way to have safe roads is through strong and conducive linkages between taxi operators, customers and government institutions.
Mr Mudongo said since the establishment of Kanye Taxi Association in 2002 it has advocated for creating a solid and conducive relations between all stakeholders.
Furthermore, the association provides a platform in which taxi operators, local authorities and the general public can voice their concerns.
Mr Mudongo said a coherent relationship among the Department of Road Transport and Safety (DRTS), the District Commissioner’s Office (DCO), the Southern District Council (SDC), Botswana Police Service (BPS), the public, and taxi operators is crucial to the provision of a safe public transport service.
Mr Mudongo said the association spread wings in its services including providing wedding and funeral benefits for its members on which they subscribe P30 on annual basis.
Mr Mudongo said such services bond members together thus making it much easier to assist each other in times of need. ENDS
