BDP officials woo voters for party

30 Nov 2016

Democrats have been urged to unite and vote for Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) in large numbers in 2019.

Speaking at the Francistown West victory celebrations on Sunday, Francistown East MP, Mr Buti Billy said BDP government took over when the country was poor in 1966 and worked hard  to develop Botswana.

He explained that in 1966 many people around the world dismissed the prospect of a better future for the country but today many people admire Botswana for its peace and tranquility and prudent economic management brought forth by the visionary leadership of BDP.

He said for those reasons Batswana can continue to trust BDP to change their lives further by retaining it to power in 2019.

He said the area MP Mr Ignatius Moswaane has proved to be a strong and visionary leader when he was a councillor as he was vocal on social and economic developments in Francistown West as a whole.

The Mayor of Francistown, Ms Sylvia Muzila echoed the same sentiments as that of MP Billy saying most of the developments that came in Francistown West were because of Moswaane’s relentless efforts.

For his part, Mr Moswaane thanked the voters for electing him saying they made a wise decision as he has their needs at heart.

He reminded that representing them backdates to his era as the Monarch ward councillor when he advocated for developments in the area.

He promised his electorates that he will always advocate for the developments of the constituency under the BDP ticket.

He dismissed allegations that he was headed to the opposition, saying that such rumours were cheap talks meant to tarnish his good name.

“I am home here at Botswana Democratic Party and I will never leave this party,” Mr Moswaane said before getting down on his knees to thank his electorates for voting him in large numbers during the 2014 general elections, saying he will never disappoint them but will bring them all the developments they have long called for.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Francistown West branch chairperson, Ms Laedza Maguswi reminded the electorates that the victory party was a reminder that Mr Moswaane and the BDP would still be seeking their support in 2019.
She went on to remind the democrats to renew their old membership cards into the newly introduced ones to be eligible to vote in the next party primary elections. ENDS
