Former Magopane Hill Primary School students recently honoured their former primary school teachers in a  special ceremony.

The class of 1984, 1985 and 1986 honoured their former teachers with certificates of appreciation and gifts at Magopane Hill School in Ramotswa

The chairman of class of 1984, 1985 and 1986 committee, Mr Kenosi Mochotlhi said they came up with the idea to appreciate the principles their former teachers had instilled in them to become who they were now in life.

Mr Mochotlhi explained that it was important to recognise the role played by their former teachers, which established a stepping stone that helped to shape their path.

“A teacher plays a vital role in one’s life, all teachers should be appreciated for the work they do in our lives,” he said.

He said the relationship they had laid with Magopane Hill School would continue to grow, explaining that the committee would work hard to assist the school, noting that they were motivated by students from other villages who recognised the worth of a teacher.

Mr Mochotlhi said he was saddened by the generation of today that fail to see the value of education in their lives but instead were engaged in social ills. Magopane Hill School head Ms Bertha Maiketso appreciated what the class of 1984, 1985 and 1986 did, saying the event was historic since it was the first of its kind in Ramotswa.

Ms Maiketso said students should appreciate the role of a teacher because it would help to craft their purpose in life thus making students to be productive in their school work, adding that students should know the reason why they wake up every morning to go to school.

A representative from the royal family, Mr Morapedi Tsebe said it was not often that students remember the value of their former teachers.

He encouraged class of 1984, 1985 and 1986 to continue with their good work and be exemplary to others.  ENDS
