Church builds nation-Masisi

28 Nov 2016

The Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says  the role of the church in the society is important because it moulds a person and similarly builds a nation.
Mr Masisi  said this in a ceremony held to mark the 30th anniversary of St. Solomon Church of Christ in Ditshegwane on Saturday.
Not only did the church celebrate its 30 years of existence, it also celebrated the life of its Arch Bishop Goganamang Marampu for good leadership.
The Vice President commended the church for a job well done in providing guidance and leading the people on the right direction.
He also mentioned that it was a good thing for the church to honour its leader while he was still alive.
He further said that the Arch Bishop’s life was worth celebrating for he had been “a servant of the people” who had dedicated his whole life to the call of service.
Although Mr Masisi  acknowledged that spiritual churches were not free to worship during the pre-independence era, he however guaranteed government’s position on the freedom of worship in the country stating that when churches worshiped freely and praising God in their different denominations, it glorified God and subsequently God would bless the land.
The Vice President pledged P6 000 towards the church building project. Arch Bishop Marampu expressed great joy and thanked the Vice President for having honoured his invitation without looking down upon him or the church.
He said that he would forever cherish the day.
Representative of the council of churches in Ditshegwane Ms Itshegeng Gaoforwe, hailed government for allowing freedom of worship in the country as it was not the case before independence.
She however opined that some people had now taken advantage of this freedom as "many are now disguising as prophets to rob unsuspecting worshippers of their money and anything they can lay their hands on."
MP for Takatokwane Mr Ngaka Ngaka appealed to government to act against church leaders who abused their congregation.
St. Solomon Church of Christ was formed in 1986 and was officially registered in 1999. ENDS
