Programs officer warn participants

Programmes officer at  the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development  in Bobonong, Ms Jane Chuma says the prize money for the constituency arts competitions has not been increased.

Therefore, she implored participants to ignore such statements.

Ms Chuma said in an interview that several groups and individuals had been complaining that their office was not paying them accordingly, since the prize money had been increased.

Ms Chuma said government had not increased prize money of constituency arts competitions.

If there were changes, she explained that participants could have been notified officially.

She said the only prize money which had increased were for the presidential arts competitions where the number one would be awarded P30 000 and number two P27 500, while number three would get P25 000.

For the constituency arts competitions, the prize money was P3 000 for first position, P2 000 for second position and P1 000 for third position at ward group level.

For individual awards competitions, she said the first prize winner would get P1 500, while second prize winner would get P1 000 and third prize winne would get P750.

Ms Chuma urged participants to enter the competitions in large numbers to avoid a tendency whereby participants were competing alone in wards.

She said all participants end up having no contenders.

Ms Chuma said they had decided to award the prize money based on the percentage marks of each participant.

She said participants who had scored 50 percent and above were the ones that deserved the prize money accordingly. BOPA
