Sereetsi said the guitar was a music instrument that originated from Spain and spread to other parts of the world.

He said it was used to play various kind of music such as rock, jazz, reggae and kwasa kwasa and others.

He said the original guitar had six strings.

He said he was working on a project called Botswana Folk Guitar, which is funded by CIPA and was intended to curb the youth from expressing their wellbeing with alcohol and drugs.

“This project also have got a book called Solo Four String Guitar of Botswana, which was written by me,” he said.

Sereetsi said the aim of the book was to teach people how to play the solo four string guitar by introducing them to the basic skills of playing the four string guitar.

He said the project played a significance importance in helping the youth to express themselves through music.

“You should start playing the solo four string guitar in your churches, school music clubs and at your traditional music groups so that you become used to this guitar,” he said.

Sereetsi urged youth not to believe in false statements that a person who plays a guitar must be always under the influence of alcohol and drug abuse. BOPA
