Khama appreciates dedication

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama on Monday handed certificates of appreciation to those who took part in the just ended Botswana’s 50th (BOT50) Anniversary Celebrations.
Speaking at the BOT50 ministerial appreciation ceremony, President Khama hailed men and women from various ministries, private sector, non-governmental organisations and communities across the country for playing a vital role in the success of the country’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
He said the level of commitment demonstrated by all under the guidance and direction of BOT50 was immeasurable.
“Everyone worked around the clock mobilising the whole nation to appreciate what it means to be a Motswana, for that we are humbled and we appreciate” he said.
President Khama further said volunteers were able to rally all Batswana to celebrate and share with the world, the tale of Botswana’s visionary leadership, national pride and unwavering perseverance through the most indelible of odds.
He said the level of commitment that was displayed was of a high magnitude and memorable.
The President stated that the BOT50 theme of A United and Proud nation was indeed appropriate as it indeed united people of different calibre, including the elderly and the young.
President Khama also hailed the national roving touch, which traversed the whole country, saying it united the nation both in cities, towns and villages.
President Khama pointed out that the golden jubilee celebrations would indeed go down in history books of the country as a celebration that Batswana are and were proud of.
Furthermore, the President noted that the uptake to paint the celebrations in Botswana national colours of blue, white and black was a clear indication of an enthralled nation celebrating a momentous milestone.
For that, he declared Friday a national Botswana colours day for ever, and urged every Motswana to continue to wear the blue, black and white colours every Friday for good.
For her part, the BOT 50 coordinator Ms Charity Kgotlafela said the 10 191 certificates which had been signed by President Khama were for all who fully participated in the event.
Ms Kgotlafela said the certificates would go a long way especially for the children, who would show it off in future as concrete evidence that indeed they took active part when Botswana turned 50 years.
The certificates were handed over to Cabinet ministers to deliver them to the rightful owners in their respective ministries as a token of appreciation to those who actively participated in the preparations to deliver impressive Botswana Golden celebrations.BOPA
